Retirement of Select EEE+ Tools

Certain EEE+ tools are being retired over the next several quarters. This page explains what to expect, planned timelines, and how you can navigate these changes.

Which Tools Are Going Away?

Tool Name Planned Retirement Date
MyEEE+ June 23, 2025
EEE+ RapidReturn June 23, 2025
ClassLinker June 23, 2025
Syllabus September 2025
EEE+ ClassMail Lists & Archives September 2025

Please note, the retirement of MyEEE+ does not mean that all tools listed on that page are being retired (e.g., EEE+ GrandCentral).

Why Are These Tools Being Retired?

The tools listed above are being retired primarily for two reasons:

  1. When these tools were created, the educational technology landscape on campus was very different. These days, much of the functionality provided by these tools is already available via the campus learning management system, UCI Canvas.
  2. The EEE Team is limited in size and capacity. Maintaining the above tools creates an amount of overhead that prevents the team from focusing on creating new tools to meet the unique challenges faced by faculty, students, and staff at UCI. Retiring these tools will free up the team to work on creating solutions that can’t be purchased from a third-party vendor.

We know that changes in available technology can create challenges, and we want this transition to be as smooth as possible for you. Continue reading for recommendations regarding available alternatives and ways to achieve outcomes similar to what was made possible by the tools above.

Available Alternatives

MyEEE+

Course information, including course schedules and roster information can be obtained via a combination of the Registrar’s WebSoc and WebRoster, and UCI Canvas. As a reminder, course space management, assistant management, and waitlist management will remain available via EEE+ GrandCentral, EEE+ Assistants Manager, and the Waitlist Access Options Tool, all of which are not being retired.

EEE+ RapidReturn

While the software that currently facilitates return of exams is going away, the exam pickup and scanning services are not. Once your documents have been collected and scanned, you will now be able to use Gradescope to grade and distribute exams back to students.

Gradescope is a Canvas-integrated tool that accepts instructor-uploaded exam scans, lets you grade in the interface, matches the scans back to students, and sends the grade into your Canvas gradebook. We’ll be sharing more detailed information on how to effectively transition to Gradescope in the coming months. If this is of particular interest to you, consider bookmarking this page and/or emailing EEEFuture@uci.edu.

ClassLinker

Beginning in the Summer 2025 terms, if you wish to direct students to a non-Canvas site, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Create and publish a Canvas course space.
  2. Put a link to the actual course website on the Syllabus page.
  3. Set the Syllabus page as the course’s home page.

Syllabus

The Syllabus page in Canvas is a great place to host your syllabus. Sharing your syllabus there will also allow it to be discoverable on the Registrar’s Schedule of Classes.

ClassMail Lists & Archives

You can use the Canvas Inbox tool to send a message to your entire course, as you can with ClassMail Lists. You can use the Canvas Announcements tool to post information to your course that will remain accessible throughout the term in a list view, similar to ClassMail Archives.
