EEE+ Reflections

What are Reflections?

Reflections provide additional context around the teaching and learning that occurred during a particular quarter. In this context, you will also be reflecting on your student evaluation responses in relation to your perceptions of the course. These reflections may enable you to adjust your course practices, content, or policies for future offerings.

These reflections can optionally be included with your evaluations when submitted as part of your merit and promotion review as a second piece of evidence demonstrating teaching excellence.

How are Reflections used?

This exercise will primarily serve as an opportunity to privately reflect on your teaching and evaluations for a particular quarter. You’ll have easy download options to include the reflections in any merit and promotion reviews, too.

You may also choose to have your reflections included in future work conducted by the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation to drive campus research and/or professional development activities to improve the quality of instruction at UCI. Your reflections will be completely de-identified if used in this context.

How do I use the tool?

If you are a part of the Reflections pilot, we’ll send a link to access the feature. There, you’ll see a list of your courses from the current academic year. You’ll have the opportunity to provide a reflection for each course in the quarter.

The reflection itself is a short, four question form, along with the opportunity to opt-out of data sharing.

What is Expected During the Pilot?

We would love to hear your feedback on how the tool functions, as well as any ideas you have for improvement. Here are a few questions that might help you provide feedback:

• Was the tool easy to use?
• Did you ever feel like you weren’t sure what to do?
• Is there something that would make EEE+ Reflections more useful to you?

We expect to run the first phase of the pilot through early April 2022. You should expect to receive a couple of check-in emails from us between now and then, but feel free to provide feedback anytime.
