Pearson Revel

Pearson Revel promotes active learning through interactive content, media, and assessment. Embedded quizzes and assignments, as well as interactive material found within assigned reading help to encourage engagement and participation.

Suggested Uses

  • Incorporate textbooks published by Pearson into your course (Note: Textbooks come at additional cost for students)
  • Promote active learning and increase student interaction with your assigned textbook(s)

How to Integrate With Canvas

These steps assume that you have already created a Canvas course space. If you have not, create a course space first.

  1. Open your Canvas course space and click on Settings.
  2. Click on Navigation near the top.
  3. There are two lists here. Drag Pearson from the lower list to the upper list.
  4. Click Save at the bottom of this screen.
  5. Pearson should now appear as a menu item on the left-hand side of your Canvas course space.

Preparing Your Course Settings

  1. Enter your Pearson Revel course and click Settings.
  2. Select your time zone, set due dates for your assignments, and set when assignments become available.
  3. Manage how grades are displayed by selecting Points, Percentages, or Points and Percentages.

  4. Manage your course scoring.
  5. Click Save when you’re finished.

Creating Assignments

  1. Click Create Assignment on the Pearson Dashboard.
  2. Select assignment content from the Content Library.
  3. Drag content to the Assignment contents box or select Add. You can select any content not already assigned, and include up to 50 items in an assignment. The content you’ve already posted is checked.
  4. Make changes to your assignment name and set an assignment due date.
  5. Click Publish to make the assignment visible to students or Save to keep the assignment private.
  6. Your new assignment will appear on the dashboard.

Assessing Student Performance

  1. Select Grades to view performance data by student or by assignment.
  2. Select a student from the list to view performance details for that student.

  3. Student Details will show you where the student is succeeding and where they are struggling. You can select their email address to message them directly from the Student Details page.
  4. If needed, you can edit and annotate student scores.
    1. You can also view performance data by assignment. Select Assignment and choose an assignment from the list to view Assignment Details.

    2. Assignment details provide an overview of your class’s performance on the selected Assignment. Select a student from the list to view individual student performance.
