YellowDig Engage
How to Integrate With Canvas


YellowDig Engage

Yellowdig Engage is a Q&A / Discussion platform centered around creating course communities. Instructors and students can post messages, “Like” posts, and bring in outside resources like articles or videos to facilitate deeper discussion. Instructors can endorse student replies, and provide “accolades” that function much like badges to help gamify the course and increase participation. Yellowdig Engage can also push points back to the Canvas gradebook and supports LaTeX.

 

Suggested Uses

  • Increase engagement.
  • Help students reach a better understanding of a topic through higher-quality discussion.

How to Integrate with Canvas

Please note that Yellowdig Engage is currently available only in Canvas course spaces for the UCI Paul Merage School of Business.

These steps assume that you have already created a Canvas course space. If you have not, create a course space first.

  1. Open your Canvas course space and click on “Settings”.
  2. Click on “Navigation” near the top.
  3. There are two lists here. Drag “Yellowdig Engage” from the lower list to the upper list.
  4. Click “Save” at the bottom of this screen.
  5. Yellowdig Engage should now appear as a menu item on the left-hand side of your Canvas course space.
