FacultyEnlight is a digital book catalog that works with UCI’s local bookstore. Faculty can use this to research and adopt textbooks, and then assign them to students so that they can access them through Canvas. Please note that students may need to purchase access to textbooks.

How to Integrate with Canvas

These steps assume that you have already created a Canvas course space. If you have not, create a course space first.

FacultyEnlight is split up into two items within Canvas. They are called: “UCI Bookstore: Find Materials” and “UCI Bookstore: Assign Materials”. The first is what students will use to find textbooks that you have assigned, and the second is what you will use to research materials, and potentially adopt them for your course.

To add FacultyEnlight to your course, do the following:

1. Open your Canvas course space and click on “Settings”.
2. Click on “Navigation” near the top.
3. There are two lists here. Drag “UCI Bookstore: Find Materials” and “UCI Bookstore: Assign Materials” from the lower list to the upper list.
4. Click “Save” at the bottom of this screen.
5. Both items should now appear as menu items on the left hand side of your Canvas course space.
